Metaphors and Similes

Metaphor - A metaphor is saying two things that are usually quite different and say that one is the other. Metaphors can also be said as verbs and adjectives.
The daggers of heat pierced through his black t-shirt.

Simile - A simile is clearly making a comparison of two things, using the words like or as to state how they are similar to each other.

The light was as bright as the sun.
