What is my Kaupapa?

My visual arts course this year will be focused on painting. I did not do painting as a year 11 but thought I would do it this year to try it out and see if I enjoy doing it and also see what types of skills I have around it. I am excited to do painting this year because I think it will be a very enjoyable subject and I like the idea of being able to link all my ideas together into one theme to make it all come together as one piece. My kaupapa for this year will be based on Spiritual and cultural development. I have chosen this one because it fits in well with my theme of 'nostalgia'. I have chosen nostalgia because it is something I can personally connect with and I think other people will be able to aswell. It would be something I can add to throughout the year and develop the ideas as I go.

I have gone through the artists in my theme on the matrix on Ako and created my mood board here:

From this, I have decided to use Marc Chagall, Faith Ringgold, and Tony Fomison as my artist models for 2.1. These artists will also help me to get started with 2.2 which is also going to be the start of my folio.
This is a brainstorm I did in class together with the other level 1's, 2's and 3's. It shows my chosen subject and has an extension from there that has ideas I could use to help develop my subject and become my theme. Underneath that is my Matrix theme which is Spiritual and Cultural Development which also has an extension labelling things which could relate to that theme and how I could develop that theme.
